Ribosyldihydronicotinamide dehydrogenase [quinone] 2 (NQO2)

Target
NQO2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (quinone) family, Flavoprotein
01

Overview

Ribosyldihydronicotinamide dehydrogenase [quinone] 2 (NQO2) is a phase II detoxification enzyme that reduces quinones to hydroquinones, protecting cells from oxidative stress. Unlike NQO1, it uses ribosyldihydronicotinamide (NRH) as its primary electron donor. It is involved in detoxification processes, possibly vitamin K metabolism, and can contribute to reactive oxygen species generation during drug metabolism, particularly in acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity. NQO2 also interacts with various kinase inhibitors, suggesting potential non-catalytic roles in cell signaling or drug responses.
