Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ringer's solution is a clear, isotonic solution of several inorganic salts in water, primarily sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and calcium chloride, designed to closely match the electrolyte composition of extracellular fluid in animals and humans. It is primarily used for intravenous or subcutaneous rehydration and the replacement of extracellular fluid losses, such as in isotonic dehydration or hypovolemia. It is not a receptor, transporter, ion channel, or enzyme, and thus not a therapeutic target; rather, it is a clinical tool in fluid and electrolyte therapy.
