RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 105 is a human genomic sequence closely related in structure to the functional 5S ribosomal RNA gene but classified as a pseudogene[6]. Pseudogenes are generally non-functional, arising via gene duplication or retrotransposition events, and accumulate mutations that preclude their translation or normal RNA function[2]. Some pseudogenes may be transcribed into non-coding RNAs, which can exert regulatory effects on parental genes, typically by competing for endogenous microRNA binding (ceRNA mechanism) or by facilitating epigenetic chromatin modifications[2]. There is no evidence that RNA5SP105 encodes a receptor, transporter, enzyme, or any other conventional drug target, nor is there evidence of clinical relevance, interacting drugs, or function as a biomarker. It should not be listed as a therapeutic target; its annotation is correct from a genomic perspective, but inappropriate for lists of actionable molecular targets.
