RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 144 (abbreviated as RNA5SP144) is a human pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene cluster[2][3][4]. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP144 are typically non-functional segments of DNA that originate from gene duplication or retrotransposition events[6]. Unlike true 5S ribosomal RNA genes, pseudogenes lack the ability to encode functional RNA molecules due to mutations or loss of regulatory elements[6]. There is currently no evidence that RNA5SP144 is transcribed or has a biological function in human cells; it is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or drug target, and is not associated with disease. As such, it is generally omitted from structured target lists used in pharmacology or molecular biology.
