Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 151 is a human pseudogene related to the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. 5S rRNA genes code for a structural RNA component of the large ribosomal subunit and are essential for ribosome assembly and function[3][1]. However, pseudogenes such as RNA5SP151 are non-functional genomic DNA sequences derived from the original gene, usually containing sequence disruptions or mutations that prevent them from encoding a functional RNA or protein[7][4]. There is no evidence that this pseudogene plays a role in disease, cellular physiology, or has utility as a therapeutic target[4][7].
