**RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 168 (RNA5SP168)** is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome[2]. Pseudogenes are sequences similar to functional genes but contain mutations or defects that generally prevent them from producing functional proteins or RNAs[4][6]. RNA5SP168 is a noncoding RNA pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. Unlike functional 5S ribosomal RNA, which is a ~120 nucleotide RNA component of the large ribosomal subunit and essential for protein synthesis[1][3], this pseudogene does not produce a functional RNA molecule. There is no evidence that RNA5SP168 is directly involved in biological pathways or disease processes, nor is it a known receptor, enzyme, transporter, or approved therapeutic target[2][6]. The primary utility of such pseudogenes is often limited to evolutionary, genomic, or phylogenetic study rather than clinical or pharmacological targeting.
