Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 173 (abbreviated as RNA5SP173) is a human non-coding RNA locus annotated as a processed pseudogene related to the 5S ribosomal RNA gene[2][4]. Processed pseudogenes arise via reverse transcription and integration into the genome but lack the ability to produce functional RNA or protein products[6]. 5S rRNA itself is a structural component of the large ribosomal subunit essential for protein synthesis, but pseudogenes such as RNA5SP173 are non-functional remnants with no role in ribosome function or cellular physiology[1][3][4][6]. There is no evidence for this locus being transcribed or playing any regulatory, structural, or signaling role in human biology.
None (there is no mechanism because this is not a protein or RNA drug target)
