Instead, it is classified as a processed pseudogene, likely originating from the reverse transcription and genomic insertion of a processed 5S rRNA transcript, but it no longer produces a product or participates in any biological pathway[4][5]. There are hundreds of non-functional 5S rRNA pseudogenes in the genome, reflecting the historical accumulation of these sequences over evolution[4][9]. RNA5SP174 is not considered a “target” in the therapeutic or pharmacological sense, and its presence has no known implications for drug development, disease, or clinical practice[2][5].
