RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 27 (RNA5SP27) is a member of the 5S ribosomal RNA pseudogene family in the human genome[2]. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP27 are non-functional copies of genes that generally do not encode active RNA or proteins and lack biological function; instead, they are relics of evolutionary duplication or retrotransposition events[2]. RNA5SP27 is specifically annotated as a non-functional pseudogene and does not produce a functional 5S rRNA or ribosomal protein[2]. Functional 5S rRNA is a component of the large ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, but RNA5SP27 does not contribute to ribosome biogenesis, function, or regulation[2]. There is no evidence for its involvement in disease, drug interaction, signal transduction, or use as a therapeutic target or biomarker.
