Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 315 (RNA5SP315) is a genomic region that resembles the 5S ribosomal RNA gene but is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is nonfunctional and does not encode a product involved in ribosome structure or biogenesis. The authentic 5S ribosomal RNA is a component of the large ribosomal subunit and is critical for ribosome assembly and function, but pseudogene variants like RNA5SP315 may have originated by gene duplication or retrotransposition and have accumulated mutations rendering them inactive. There is no evidence for regulatory or pathological roles for RNA5SP315 specifically.
None (no mechanism of action as a drug target)
