Overview

RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 363 (abbreviated RNA5SP363 or RN5S363) is a human processed pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family[2][5][8]. It does not code for a functional 5S ribosomal RNA molecule and is classified as a non-coding locus that has accumulated mutations preventing its translation into a functional product[8]. While canonical 5S rRNA plays critical roles in ribosome function and protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells[1][3], pseudogenes such as RNA5SP363 typically lack such function and are generally transcriptionally silent. There is currently no evidence of a functional or regulatory role for RNA5SP363 in human physiology or pathology. Some pseudogenes in general may be transcribed and influence gene expression networks by acting as molecular sponges for microRNAs (i.e., serving as ceRNAs)[6], but there is no specific evidence available for RNA5SP363 in this capacity. RNA5SP363 is a pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene or known therapeutic target. It is linked to the 5S rRNA gene family but does not encode a functional product, and there is no published evidence supporting a role in disease, drug interaction, or use as a biomarker.
