RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 369 (RNA5SP369)

Target
RNA5SP369
Molecular classification
Processed pseudogene, Non-coding RNA pseudogene, rRNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 369 is a processed pseudogene derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family. 5S rRNA pseudogenes arise via retrotransposition and lack the ability to produce functional rRNA. They are classified as 'rRNA pseudogenes' and do not encode protein or functional RNA. Although pseudogenes as a class have attracted research interest for their potential indirect impacts on gene regulation or disease, there is no evidence that RNA5SP369 is itself biologically active or clinically significant. In genome annotations, these entities are generally considered non-functional remnants and are not regarded as molecular targets, receptors, or drugs.
