Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP372 are ubiquitous in the genome and can sometimes influence gene regulation by acting as competing endogenous RNAs, antisense transcripts, or miRNA decoys, but direct evidence for such activity is gene- and context-specific and not established for this particular pseudogene[4]. RNA5SP372 is catalogued in gene databases for reference, but is not regarded as a therapeutic target, nor does it encode a protein or active RNA product[1][6].
