RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 38 (RNA5SP38) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene representing an inactive copy of the 5S ribosomal RNA gene. Pseudogenes such as RNA5SP38 arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition and accumulate mutations that disable normal gene function. RNA5SP38 does not produce a functional RNA or protein and is not involved in ribosome assembly or function. While the original 5S rRNA molecule is a key structural RNA within the ribosome and essential for protein biosynthesis, pseudogenes like RNA5SP38 have no established cellular function and are not associated with disease or therapeutic intervention. Pseudogenes may contribute to regulatory RNA networks in rare cases, but there is no evidence for any regulatory or coding function for RNA5SP38.\n\nIn summary, RNA5SP38 should not be considered a functional molecular target for drug discovery, clinical biomarker applications, or molecular mechanism studies.
