Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 441 (RNA5SP441): This is a pseudogene homolog of the highly conserved ribosomal 5S RNA gene, annotated as RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 441 (abbreviation: RNA5SP441). It does not encode a functional product and is not considered a therapeutic target. RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 441 (RNA5SP441) is a non-functional, processed pseudogene in the human genome with sequence homology to the gene encoding 5S ribosomal RNA[2][4][6]. The functional 5S ribosomal RNA is a universally conserved structural RNA component within the large subunit of the ribosome in most organisms and plays a key role in maintaining ribosome structure, fidelity, and translation[1][3][5]. However, RNA5SP441 cannot produce a functional 5S rRNA molecule and does not participate in ribosome assembly or cellular processes. Like other pseudogenes, its sequence arose by duplication or retrotransposition but accumulated mutations preventing productive transcription and function[4][6]. It is listed in sequence databases (NCBI Gene: 100873689, Ensembl: ENSG00000252618)[2]. There is no evidence that RNA5SP441 serves as a receptor, enzyme, or any kind of drug target; its annotation as a “target” is incorrect. If structured information is needed on actual drug targets, the functional homolog—**5S ribosomal RNA (5S rRNA)**—should be referenced, not this pseudogene.
No drugs act on this pseudogene.
