RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 469 (RNA5SP469) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, derived from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene[5]. Pseudogenes like RNA5SP469 are generally nonfunctional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and lack the ability to encode the original functional product. While some pseudogenes have documented regulatory roles in gene expression, particularly as microRNA decoys or antisense RNAs, there is no published evidence that RNA5SP469 exerts any such biological effects[2][6]. This locus is not considered a therapeutic target, as it does not encode a protein, receptor, or other druggable biomolecule. The presence of such pseudogenes can reflect genome evolution and may, in rare cases, serve as molecular markers, but RNA5SP469 itself has no established clinical or biological significance[5].
