RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 511 (RNA5SP511) is a processed pseudogene derived from the 5S rRNA gene. Unlike functional 5S ribosomal RNA, which forms an essential structural part of the large ribosomal subunit and is involved in ribosome biogenesis and protein synthesis, this pseudogene is a genomic relic that does not encode a functional RNA or protein product[2][3][5][6]. Processed pseudogenes like RNA5SP511 are formed by reverse transcription of an RNA molecule and its reintegration into the genome, often lacking introns and regulatory sequences, and usually cannot produce functional molecules[2][6]. While some pseudogenes can influence gene regulation or disease via RNA-mediated mechanisms or serve as decoys for regulatory elements, there is currently no evidence to suggest that RNA5SP511 is expressed or plays any significant role in biology or disease[2][5]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, and no drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are associated with it.
