RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 92 (RNA5SP92) is a processed pseudogene related to the 5S ribosomal RNA gene. Unlike functional 5S ribosomal RNA genes, pseudogenes like RNA5SP92 are typically nonfunctional DNA sequences that arose from retrotransposition or duplication events and lack the regulatory features required for proper transcription and processing. The canonical 5S ribosomal RNA is a highly conserved RNA integral to ribosome assembly and protein translation, but pseudogenes such as RNA5SP92 do not contribute to ribosomal structure or function. While some pseudogenes in the genome occasionally gain regulatory, epigenetic, or competing RNA roles, there is no evidence that RNA5SP92 possesses such activity or is implicated in any specific disease pathway or pharmacological response.
