RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 94 (RNA5SP94) is a pseudogene in the human genome. It originates from the 5S ribosomal RNA gene family, but unlike functional 5S rRNA genes, it does not encode a functional RNA molecule. The gene is not transcribed into a functional ribosomal RNA and therefore does not play a direct role in ribosome structure or protein synthesis. Pseudogenes such as this one may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are considered non-functional remnants of once-active genes. While some pseudogenes can be expressed or implicated in regulatory roles (such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs in cancer or other diseases), there is no evidence indicating that RNA5SP94 serves as a functional therapeutic target, biomarker, or biological effector[2][6]. This gene is a non-functional pseudogene derived from the 5S rRNA gene, with no known role as a functional receptor, enzyme, RNA, or drug target. It is not targeted by drugs, and there are no known mechanisms of action, disease associations, or biomarker roles specific to RNA5SP94[2][6].
