RNA, 5S ribosomal pseudogene 98 (RNA5SP98) is a "pseudogene"—a genomic DNA sequence resembling the 5S ribosomal RNA gene, but with mutations or structural changes that prevent expression of a functional RNA product[2]. True 5S ribosomal RNA is a conserved component of the large ribosomal subunit and is essential for ribosome assembly and protein synthesis[1][4][7], but pseudogenes like RNA5SP98 do not encode functional RNA molecules and are not incorporated into ribosomes. It is not considered a therapeutic target or a candidate for drug interaction, and its relevance is almost exclusively limited to genomic annotation. In summary: RNA5SP98 is a pseudogene with no established biological, therapeutic, or diagnostic relevance. Its primary interest lies in genomic classification rather than molecular targeting[2][6].
