RNA, 7SK small nuclear pseudogene 197 (RN7SKP197)

Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene—not “receptor,” “enzyme,” or other classic target class)

Overview

RN7SKP197 is a noncoding pseudogene sequence homologous to the RN7SK small nuclear RNA family[4]. Unlike the functional RN7SK gene, which participates in regulation of RNA polymerase II transcriptional pausing and cellular differentiation[1][2], RN7SKP197 lacks evidence of producing a functional RNA molecule or protein, and has no recognized regulatory, structural, or enzymatic role. Pseudogenes are typically considered nonfunctional remnants of once-functional genes, often arising from gene duplication or retrotransposition events. No validated disease association, molecular interaction, or therapeutic targeting has been reported for RN7SKP197[4].
