RNA, 7SK small nuclear pseudogene 49 (RN7SKP49)

Target
RN7SKP49
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene, noncoding RNA-related)
01

Overview

RN7SKP49 is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SK small nuclear RNA locus. It is annotated due to sequence similarity but is generally transcriptionally inactive and does not produce a stable, functional RNA[3]. By sequence, it is related to RN7SK, which is a highly abundant noncoding RNA of ~330 nt transcribed by RNA polymerase III. RN7SK acts as a scaffold for the 7SK small nuclear ribonucleoprotein complex, recruiting factors such as HEXIM1/2 to regulate the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) and control RNA polymerase II elongation, impacting cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, and responses to environmental stimuli[1][2][3].
