Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 113, pseudogene (RN7SL113P) is a processed pseudogene derived from the canonical 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex involved in cotranslational targeting of proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[8][6][7]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL113P are typically formed by reverse transcription and genome integration of RNA molecules, and they usually lack the ability to produce functional RNA or protein products[7][4]. The RN7SL113P locus is not known to encode a functional RNA or protein, and does not have direct biological activity or recognized involvement in human disease. There are many such 7SL RNA pseudogenes dispersed throughout the genome, reflecting retrotranspositional events[7]. RN7SL113P is not a drug target, does not interact with drugs, and is not associated with known biomarkers or safety concerns. Its only well-established feature is its derivation from the 7SL RNA, a component crucial to SRP function in other, non-pseudogene forms.
