Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 117, pseudogene (RN7SL117P)

Target
RN7SL117P
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene), Non-coding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RN7SL117P is a human pseudogene related to the functional 7SL RNA (the RNA component of the signal recognition particle), but it is a truncated, non-coding, and non-functional version. Human DNA contains hundreds of such 7SL RNA-like pseudogenes, most created by reverse transcription and reintegration of 7SL RNA transcripts back into the genome. These pseudogenes, including RN7SL117P, do not produce functional RNA or participate in the biological activities of the signal recognition particle, protein translocation, or any other cell process. Consequently, they hold no known physiological, pathological, or pharmacological relevance.
