Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 126, pseudogene (RN7SL126P) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene—a defective copy of the RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic gene. It arises from the genomic integration of a retrotransposed 7SL RNA sequence but lacks evidence of transcriptional activity, protein-coding potential, or biological/therapeutic function. Functional 7SL RNA is an essential part of the signal recognition particle (SRP) ribonucleoprotein complex, mediating co-translational targeting of nascent secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][4][6]. However, RN7SL126P itself, as a pseudogene, does not contribute to SRP activity, cellular signaling, or disease pathology. Pseudogenes like RN7SL126P are mainly of genomic and evolutionary interest—they may serve as sequence markers for retrotransposition events but do not have roles in signal transduction, cell cycle control, or therapeutic targeting[8].
