RN7SL134P is a pseudogene in the human genome that is classified as a 7SL RNA pseudogene. Pseudogenes are DNA segments resembling known genes but are typically nonfunctional due to various disabling mutations or truncations[8][1][9][10]. The original functional gene, in this case, relates to 7SL RNA, a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][5]. However, RN7SL134P itself does not produce functional RNA or protein and thus does not play an active biological role. The vast majority of 7SL RNA-related genetic elements in the human genome are pseudogenes and do not contribute to SRP function or protein targeting[9][10][1]. There is currently no evidence implicating RN7SL134P in disease, therapeutic targeting, or as a biomarker. As a pseudogene, it is not a drug target, receptor, enzyme, or regulatory RNA, and does not interact with any known drugs or have a therapeutic mechanism of action[1][8][9][10]. Notes: - This entry is mainly included in gene databases for completeness, but it does not represent a protein, receptor, or active RNA molecule, and is not considered a biological or therapeutic target. - Unlike the functional 7SL RNA genes (such as RN7SL1), RN7SL134P is not transcribed into a functional RNA species[1][10]. RN7SL134P is problematic as a target for drug discovery or therapeutic purposes due to its lack of function and classification as a pseudogene.
