RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 141, pseudogene (RN7SL141P)

Target
RN7SL141P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene (non-coding RNA pseudogene), Noncoding RNA (as parent molecule family; specifically SRP-related RNA pseudogene)
01

Overview

RN7SL141P, also known as RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 141, pseudogene, is a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA gene, which normally codes for the RNA portion of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][2][5]. The majority of 7SL RNA-related sequences dispersed throughout the human genome are pseudogenes, formed either by retrotransposition or genetic recombination events, and do not code for functional RNA or proteins[1][2]. RN7SL141P does not have proven biological function, nor is it known to play a role in disease pathology or serve as a biomarker. As a pseudogene, it may complicate molecular genetic analysis due to sequence similarity with the functional 7SL RNA gene, but is not regarded as a target for therapeutic development[1][2][6][7].

Mechanism of action

None applicable. There is no established drug mechanism of action involving RN7SL141P.

03

Biological functions

None established for this particular pseudogene. In general, pseudogenes may potentially play roles as decoys for microRNAs or siRNA sources, but these functions are rare and not established for RN7SL141P[4].
04

Disease associations

None confirmed for RN7SL141P specifically. Pseudogenes may sometimes have regulatory roles in cancer or other diseases but this has only been described for a limited subset, not for RN7SL141P[4].
