RN7SL147P is a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex critical for the cotranslational targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3][6]. The majority of 7SL RNA-like sequences in the genome are pseudogenes and represent truncated, nonfunctional copies of the authentic 7SL RNA gene, generated by retrotransposition events or RNA backflow into DNA; these pseudogenes do not produce functional RNA and are not involved in SRP function or protein targeting[4][5].
