RN7SL152P is a pseudogene in the human genome, corresponding to a nonfunctional, noncoding RNA sequence derived from the 7SL RNA gene family[6][7][4][5]. The 7SL RNA is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, unlike the functional 7SL RNA genes, RN7SL152P represents one of many truncated or mutated copies dispersed throughout the genome that have lost the ability to produce a functional RNA product or participate in SRP assembly or function[4][5]. These pseudogenes are artifacts of evolutionary duplication and retrotransposition events, and RN7SL152P is not reported to be transcribed at significant levels, nor does it have a defined role in cellular or disease processes. It is annotated as a "misc RNA" of the pseudogene biotype[6][7].
