Overview

RN7SL153P, or RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 153, pseudogene, is a non-coding, processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][3][6][8]. This pseudogene does not produce functional RNA or protein, as it is typically truncated and contains mutations preventing proper expression[1][3][9]. There are hundreds of 7SL RNA pseudogenes dispersed in the human genome, of which RN7SL153P is one example, generated by reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA into DNA[1][3][9]. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA gene, which has roles in protein targeting to membranes as part of the SRP complex[5][7], RN7SL153P has no known biological function, clinical relevance, or disease associations, nor is it considered a therapeutic target[6][8]. As a non-functional pseudogene, it possesses no documented biological activity, disease association, or relevance to drug interactions, and thus, information about this locus should be considered incorrect for target-based therapeutic or biomarker research[6][8].
