Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 172, pseudogene (RN7SL172P) is classified as a non-coding RNA pseudogene. It is a member of a large family of human genomic sequences related to the functional 7SL RNA, a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), but unlike the authentic gene, this locus does not produce a functional RNA or protein[1][6][7]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL172P arise through duplication or retrotransposition events followed by loss of function, often resulting in truncated, nonfunctional RNA sequences[6][7]. As a pseudogene, RN7SL172P does not contribute to canonical cellular signaling, enzymatic activity, or therapeutic targeting and has no known role in disease, drug interaction, or biomarker status[1][6][7]. There is no evidence it functions as a therapeutic target, nor does it have established involvement in pharmacology, disease mechanisms, or safety profiles.
