RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 188, pseudogene (RN7SL188P) is a noncoding RNA pseudogene located on chromosome 11, annotated in Ensembl as ENSG00000241943. It is classified as a processed pseudogene derived from the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (7SL RNA), which plays a canonical role in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum via the SRP complex. However, RN7SL188P itself does not code for the functional 7SL RNA, and there is no evidence that it is expressed as a functional RNA or involved in the protein targeting process. Pseudogenes such as this often arise through retrotransposition or gene duplication followed by loss of coding potential and typically do not have described biological functions or roles in disease, nor are they targets for drugs or therapeutics.
