Overview

RN7SL208P is one of hundreds of 7SL RNA-like pseudogene sequences dispersed throughout the human genome[2][6][7]. These pseudogenes arose by reverse transcription and subsequent integration of 7SL RNA or its derivatives back into DNA, resulting in truncated, typically non-expressed loci lacking the capability to function as the canonical 7SL RNA[2][7]. The authentic 7SL RNA is itself an essential scaffold of the SRP ribonucleoprotein complex, mediating co-translational translocation of proteins across the endoplasmic reticulum and playing roles in ribosomal translation arrest and protein targeting[1][3][5]. However, RN7SL208P displays hallmark features of pseudogenes—such as truncations and absence of functional expression—meaning it is not involved in SRP function or recognized biological processes[2][7]. In summary, RN7SL208P is a pseudogene of the 7SL RNA and not a functional molecular target, receptor, or druggable entity. It should not be considered for therapeutic targeting or molecular pharmacology analyses[2][6][7].
