RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 242, pseudogene (RN7SL242P) is a human pseudogene representing a non-functional, non-coding RNA sequence that originates from the 7SL RNA gene. The 7SL RNA is a key component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum, but most 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL242P, are truncated, not expressed, and do not encode functional RNA. Pseudogenes can sometimes regulate gene expression through RNA interference or by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs, but RN7SL242P itself is not known to serve as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug target, and has no demonstrated biological function in normal or disease states.
