RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 25, pseudogene (RN7SL25P), is a pseudogene corresponding to the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). SRP 7SL RNA plays a critical role in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum by forming part of the SRP ribonucleoprotein complex[1][7]. However, pseudogenes such as RN7SL25P are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but are generally not transcribed or translated into functional products[5][4][9]. 7SL RNA pseudogenes arise via reverse transcription or gene duplication mechanisms, and while the functional 7SL RNA is essential in the SRP complex, its pseudogenes do not contribute to any known biological functions or serve as therapeutic targets, though rare exceptions exist where pseudogene transcripts have regulatory roles in some contexts[5][4][9]. There is no evidence of their involvement in disease processes, drug interactions, or use as biomarkers.
