There are hundreds of such pseudogenes scattered in the human genome, most of which do not encode either protein or functional RNA and have no known biological activity or relevance as drug targets[5]. The authentic functional gene for 7SL RNA is associated with protein translocation machinery, but pseudogenes like RN7SL251P do not play a role in this process[1][5].
