Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 253, pseudogene (*RN7SL253P*) is a **genomic pseudogene sequence** in human DNA derived from the 7SL RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). The 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL253P, are widespread in human DNA, formed by the reverse transcription and insertion of 7SL RNA into the genome. Most such loci do not produce functional RNA or protein and have no established biological activity or disease relevance[1][5][3]. 7SL pseudogenes show truncated or altered sequences and do not participate in the protein translocation functions mediated by the authentic signal recognition particle RNA (7SL RNA)[7][5][3]. RN7SL253P expression can be detected in various tissues but lacks an ascribed function and is considered a non-functional remnant rather than a biologically active molecule[4][5][3].
