Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 260, pseudogene (RN7SL260P)

Target
RN7SL260P
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene)
01

Overview

RN7SL260P is a processed pseudogene that resembles the 7SL RNA, a non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex responsible for directing newly synthesized secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum; however, RN7SL260P itself is not functional and does not participate in SRP function or any known cellular regulatory pathway. Pseudogenes like RN7SL260P represent genomic traces of reverse-flow genetic events from functional RNAs but generally lack regulatory or coding activity in human cells.
