RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 269, pseudogene (RN7SL269P) is a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA family[4][6]. The 7SL RNA itself is a key non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is crucial for targeting newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[5]. However, pseudogenes such as RN7SL269P are generally nonfunctional: they are genomic DNA segments with similarity to functional genes (in this case, 7SL RNA genes), but due to mutations, truncations, or lack of necessary regulatory elements, they do not produce functional products[6]. Pseudogenes can occasionally be transcribed into RNA, but this is usually without biological significance; their existence can complicate genetic studies and annotation[6]. There is no evidence that RN7SL269P functions as a therapeutic target, encodes a protein, or has disease association, biomarker value, or drug interactions. Its classification is strictly as a processed pseudogene of the 7SL RNA gene family[1][6][4].
