Overview

RN7SL307P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 307, pseudogene) is a human noncoding RNA pseudogene belonging to the 7SL RNA family[1][6]. Pseudogenes in this family typically arise from reverse transcription of functional 7SL RNA, which is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[3][4][5]. Unlike functional 7SL RNA, which is essential for protein translocation and various cellular processes, pseudogenes like RN7SL307P do not encode functional RNA or protein and are not expressed[3][4][6]. They do NOT participate in biological activity, disease processes, or serve as drug targets. Most 7SL pseudogenes are truncated and nonfunctional[3][4]. The parent 7SL RNA has critical functions in translation and cell biology[5][7], but this does NOT apply to RN7SL307P, which is an inactive genomic remnant.
