RN7SL317P is a transcribed pseudogene derived from 7SL RNA loci. 7SL RNA itself is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), involved in halting and directing nascent protein synthesis to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane for secretion or membrane localization[3][1]. RN7SL pseudogenes (including RN7SL317P) do not code for functional SRP RNA but may be transcribed, leading to possible generation of noncoding RNAs with potential regulatory activity, such as acting as miRNA sponges, or contributing to chromatin modification[4]. There is no evidence that RN7SL317P is a classical drug target or receptor; its main significance is as a representative of noncoding, transcribed pseudogenes in the human genome.
