Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 318, pseudogene (RN7SL318P) is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which is not believed to be functional. The 7SL RNA is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex involved in targeting newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, 7SL pseudogenes like RN7SL318P are non-coding, often truncated or otherwise altered sequences that result from the integration of reverse-transcribed 7SL RNA back into the genome[1][3][4][6][7]. These pseudogenes do not produce functional RNAs or proteins and have no established biological or disease roles, nor are they known to interact with drugs or serve as therapeutic targets.
