These pseudogenes result from the reverse transcription and reintegration of 7SL RNA, which itself is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex involved in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][6]. However, RN7SL322P, like most 7SL pseudogenes, does **not produce a functional protein or functional RNA** product involved in SRP activity and is thus annotated as a non-functional, non-coding genomic element[3][1][9]. While some pseudogenes elsewhere in the genome may exhibit regulatory functions as non-coding RNAs (such as acting as miRNA sponges), there is **no direct evidence** that RN7SL322P itself performs such a function[2][4]. It is not considered a drug target, biomarker, or disease gene at this time, and there are no associated drugs, known mechanisms of action, or therapeutic relevance for this pseudogene[1][9]. The gene is notable only by its presence as part of the extensive 7SL pseudogene family, which reflects evolutionary processes acting on the RNA genes that compose the signal recognition particle[3][5][8].
