RN7SL326P is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which normally encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation[1][3][5][6]. Unlike functional SRP RNA genes, RN7SL326P is a truncated, likely non-functional genomic sequence that arose through retrotransposition of 7SL RNA back into DNA. Hundreds of 7SL pseudogenes like RN7SL326P are dispersed in the human genome, none of which are known to encode active RNA[1][3]. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed and participate in regulation by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or by generating small regulatory RNAs[2][4], no specific function or clinical relevance has been reported for RN7SL326P.
