Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 327, pseudogene (RN7SL327P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 15. It is part of a large family of 7SL RNA-like sequences dispersed in the genome, the vast majority of which are considered non-functional pseudogenes rather than active genes. These pseudogenes are truncated copies of the 7SL RNA—a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) that is essential for cotranslational targeting of proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane in eukaryotes. The 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL327P, arise through retrotransposition events involving 7SL RNA, but they do not encode functional RNA or protein products themselves. Most do not have documented expression or biological activity, and RN7SL327P in particular has not been linked to any function, disease process, or therapeutic targeting. While a minority of pseudogenes can generate non-coding RNAs with potential regulatory effects—such as acting as miRNA sponges—there is no evidence that RN7SL327P plays such a role.

Biological functions

Other (No known biological function; pseudogenes may occasionally have regulatory roles through non-coding RNA activities, but no such function is specifically attributed to RN7SL327P)
03

Disease associations

Other (No direct disease role reported for RN7SL327P; some 7SL pseudogenes in general may be transcriptionally active and act as miRNA sponges, but RN7SL327P itself is not described as having such roles)
