Overview

RN7SL328P is a human pseudogene classified as "RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 328, pseudogene." It is a truncated, non-protein-coding genomic sequence derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which itself encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[6][1][3][5]. RN7SL pseudogenes are widespread in the human genome and generally result from reverse transcription and genomic integration events[3][5]. Unlike functional SRP genes, RN7SL328P does not produce a functional transcript and is not known to participate in cellular biology, signaling, or disease. Most 7SL-related pseudogenes, including RN7SL328P, have no documented biological or pathological role; although some transcribed pseudogenes may have indirect effects on gene expression through the microRNA/ceRNA network, this is not recorded for RN7SL328P[2], and it remains a noncanonical, non-functional sequence in standard gene annotation databases[6][1][3][4][5].
