Overview

RN7SL330P is a processed pseudogene of the human 7SL RNA gene family, specifically a non-coding RNA pseudogene present in the cytoplasm as genomic DNA. The parent molecule, 7SL RNA, is the essential RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which mediates cotranslational protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. However, RN7SL330P itself is a truncated, non-functional derivative, generated by reverse transcription and genomic integration from 7SL RNA; such pseudogenes do not encode functional RNA and are not involved in canonical SRP function. Recent research into pseudogenes shows some may serve regulatory functions as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA "sponges," but there is no evidence for functional transcription or biological relevance for RN7SL330P specifically. This pseudogene is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or typical drug target, nor is it associated with therapeutic, diagnostic, or safety concerns.

Biological functions

None (as a pseudogene it does not produce functional RNA or protein)
