Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 340, pseudogene (RN7SL340P) is a human pseudogene related to the functional 7SL RNA gene. The true 7SL RNA is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is essential for directing nascent protein translocation across the endoplasmic reticulum[2][1]. RN7SL340P, however, is a truncated and non-functional copy of the 7SL RNA gene produced from reverse transcription events and subsequent integration into the genome. Most 7SL-related sequences in human DNA are pseudogenes and do not produce functional RNAs or proteins[3]. RN7SL340P does not have any known biological function, disease role, or therapeutic relevance, and it is not used as a biomarker or as a target for any known drugs[4][3].
