Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 35, pseudogene (abbreviated as RN7SL35P) is classified as a pseudogene of 7SL RNA, a non-coding RNA component that is crucial in the function of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[4][3][7]. Unlike functional 7SL RNA genes, the majority of such pseudogenes, including RN7SL35P, do not produce functional SRP RNA molecules, as they are typically truncated or otherwise nonfunctional copies resulting from retrotransposition events[3][7]. While most pseudogenes are considered nonfunctional, recent research suggests that some pseudogenes may be transcribed and can exert regulatory effects, such as acting as miRNA sponges or influencing expression of their parental genes via non-coding RNA mechanisms, though there is no direct evidence for these roles in RN7SL35P specifically[6]. There are no reported drug or biomarker associations, and this pseudogene is not regarded as a therapeutic target.
