RN7SL353P is a human pseudogene belonging to the family of 7SL RNAs, which are dispersed throughout the human genome as a result of reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA sequences. While the authentic 7SL RNA serves as the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)—a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for the targeting of proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum—the RN7SL353P locus itself is non-coding and does not contribute to SRP function. These pseudogenes are truncated and lack coding potential[3][5].
